The Likes of Us

The Likes of Us was the first collaboration between award-winning composers Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Written in 1965, The Likes of Us has only ever been performed twice, now with the approval of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber it is being launched by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) and the Really Useful Group (RUG) to amateur theatre prior to its professional release and eventual appearance in the West End.

Ben Hur In The Theatre!

I just read about a new production of Ben Hur and had to write about it - most people have probably seen the film or at least know that it's a complete epic. In fact, it's difficult to see how anyone could turn it into a live show, but that's just what's happened. Apparently the stage show has cost £5 million to produce, and includes chariot races, sea battles and a cast of literally hundreds of people and animals.

Which Is Cheaper?

I blogged a little while ago about the £15 offer on Wicked tickets - it's a show I'd wanted to see for ages but living a long way from London I thought I'd combine it with an overnight stay (which also gave me the day after free for shopping!). I found a cheap break from the same company and ended up paying just under £70 for the hotel and show.

Shakespeare Festival

I wrote a while ago about the British Shakespeare Company putting on a festival this summer - well, tickets are on sale on their website! The two performances available are Much Ado About Nothing and A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Which play would you most like to see this summer?

Theatre Breaks Blog joins the community

I write a couple of blogs about theatre and theatre breaks so I was very happy to find The Open Theatre Data Base. Despite describing itself as a wiki the Data Base seems to be using Drupal, which is great fun & a very effective way of allowing user generated content. I'll probably use the Data Base for posting occasional blog posts, see if I can help out with the wiki at all and generally mooch around as is my wont!
