NODA Review - Snow White
St Ambrose Players, Leyland
Director: Steven Barnes
Choreographer: Amy Yates
Musical Director: David Griffiths
This well loved pantomime was written by the society member David White and follows the traditional form with the exception of having a different person playing the Queen when she transforms into the old women.
Although it gives a role to another society member I still prefer the one person playing both parts, as it must have been confusing for the children when at the end they both took a bow.
NODA Review - Murder Mistaken
St Ambrose Players, Leyland
Director: Lionel Glover
This was a good gripping thriller, but one where the twist at the end is not too much ot a surprise. If well done it is acceptable and all six characters made sure that it was.
Joan Watkinson, as Emmie the maid, was a delight and held her character throughout. Jean Hutchinson played Monica, the murderer mistaken of the title, and what a performance she gave, extremely well done. George Birkin was on form as Philip and Marjorie Glover gave a nice cameo as Freda.
NODA Review - 101 Dalmatians
St Ambrose Players, Leyland
Director: Lee Thompson
I must confess to being somewhat intrigued by the prospect of 101 Dalmatians, the play on the stage! What a pleasant surprise was in store, with the telling of this delightful story by St Ambrose.
The large cast, twenty-seven, not quiet 101, handled the script well. The dog walking sequences in the park were effectively done, with costumes and animal mannerisms all displaying a believable level of detail.
